Jaguar E-Type smashes estimate at classic car auction.
A JAGUAR E-Type almost 45 years old and needing restoration sold for more than £20,000 above its pre-sale estimate when it was a star at a classic car auction.
The 1972 Jaguar E-Type SIII V12 Roadster, owned by the same family for 40 years, sold for an amazing £61,050, more than £20,000 over its upper estimate at last weekend's Classic Car Auctions event at Warwickshire.
Collectors of older classic cars fought over a number of special examples. An original, right-hand drive 1946 MG TC Midget, sold after a long bidding war for £35,750, more than £13,000 over its lower estimate. A restored 1942 Willys Jeep sold for an impressive £28,600.
