NEC classic car show preview
Attention turns to Birmingham next week for the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show at the NEC, which has as its theme “Heroes and Heroines” Lancaster’s own stand has an exceptionally diverse “Best of British” focus, including the Bloodhound SSC, a 135,000bhp, jet- and rocket-propelled single-seater that should devour a mile in 3.6 seconds as it attempts to claim a new land speed record next year, alongside a 1969 Morris Mini Mk2 that will be sold in aid of Prostate Cancer UK on the Saturday.

Representing other automotive achievements are the Masonic Classic Vehicle Club’s 1952 AEC Regent that travelled 12,000 miles across North America and BMW’s celebration of the marque’s 100th birthday as well as 50 years of its ‘compact’ models, which established the Bavarian company as an international force with the launch of the 02-series in 1966.
