1965 AMC Rambler Marlin

Here's one you won't find down the street, in the neighbourhood or pretty much anywhere! A very rare 1965 Rambler Marlin one of fewer than 300 sold in Canada in 1965. This one is near perfect. It has just over 53000 miles on its original and powerful AMC 327 V8 engine mated to a 3 speed AT. The car came from the factory with a 4bbl carburetor and generates some 270 hp. In its day it didn't eat dust, it made it. Not today though. I baby it. The car is virtually rust free and with the exception of a few unwelcome scratches it looks very nice. It does garner more attention than most at car shows and anywhere I go because folks love the unique styling and its beautiful colour scheme. Most Marlins came with two-tone paint - this being Antiqua Red with Classic Black covering the roof and trunk lid. These cars came with factory front disk brakes and this one has additional features such as PS, PB, AM radio (works), headrests (very rare), front seat belts with Rambler logo, bucket seats, light group and more. For 1965 some 10327 Rambler Marlins were sold. AMC delivered two to each dealer and based on numbers of the day that translates to just over 3 sold per dealer during the year. For 1966 AMC dropped the Rambler nameplate going simply with the Marlin badging. The front disk brakes became optional (to lower the base price) and a handful of other minor tweaks were made. Unfortunately for today's car enthusiast just over 4500 were sold that year. In 1967 they made more changes including the stretching of the car to fit on the larger Ambassador chassis. That year saw fewer sales yet so the car was discontinued after 1967. Fewer than 18000 were made during the three year run. While its unknown how many exist today it's likely safe to say that less than 40 are in Canada, probably well less. Overall this car would rate as a 9 out of 10. It runs well, it sounds nice with the after-market dual exhaust.
