1995 Volkswagen T4 California Coach

We bought "Gordita" during the COVID-19 pandemic, when we were looking for a different and more independent way of travelling between The Netherlands and my hometown in the Basque Country, Spain. We found her at a garage in Sliedrecht, near Dordrecht, and immediately saw the potential for many road trips and surf adventures. Gordita has become much more than a camper van. She has given us the freedom to travel at our own pace, discover remote places and wake up in nature. We've spent countless weekends exploring the Dutch coast for surfing and have travelled through France and northern Spain every summer. The original Westfalia interior and the rare cactus upholstery give her a unique character that always makes people smile. Our favourite journeys are along the Atlantic coast of northern Spain. For the past three summers we've driven from the Basque Country all the way to Galicia, stopping at countless beaches to surf and explore. One memory stands out: waking up at Pantín Beach in Galicia with the sound of the waves in the background, opening the sliding door to the fresh ocean air, and starting the day with an early surf. Moments like that are exactly what Gordita is all about.
