The Limited edition Campaign model (also known as the One in Ten Million special edition) was launched in the spring of 1988 to celebrate the production of 10 million VW Golfs. 16,500 were made in total, with 8,000 staying in Germany while the rest went for export worldwide. The UK cars were all GTIs and were available in a choice of only 3 metallic colours of Helios Blue, Metallic Black or Oak Green. There are no records of the number of cars that came to the UK, but it is estimated there were less than a 1,000 of each colour. There were 3 and 5 door variants, and 8v and 16v engine choices so, if for example this was an equal split, that would make potentially only 250 in each combination. This Oak Green, 5 door, 8 valve version was therefore a rare car when new and is super rare now. It is truly a treat of a driving experience.
