Recently it has been through a complete mechanical overhaul by Mk1 specialists CrazyQuiffs of Wallingford who have transplanted a modern 2.0 TFSI petrol engine with a DSG gearbox from a 2008 VW vehicle. The results are spectacular performance and modern reliability with the easy of use of an DSG automatic gearbox. Unlike other Mk1 Golfs from the 80s and 90s this car has properly upgraded brakes with an ABS system installed throughout by the best in the industry. It also has power steering and bluetooth audio and electric convertible roof. It also has the added bonus of professionally upgraded 3 point harness seatbelts in the rear seats unlike the standard lap belts that we made in the 80s.
