Well for a start it’s faster and more powerful than its predecessor and is capable of accelerating from standstill to 62mph in just 4.5sec and reaching a top speed of 149mph. It’s got a new V8 engine with a 9 speed automatic gearbox combined with a newly conceived AMG Performance 4Matic four-wheel drive system, providing a more rearward biased delivery of power, and reworked suspension. The new V8 engine is now a 4.0-litre twin turbocharged petrol unit, replacing the old 5.5-litre engine. And for “greater comfort and stability” it boasts an aluminium body shell and widened ladder frame chassis. So that all sounds great – and it is great. It really is a unique piece of kit.
