Classic and period vehicle hire for film and television
BookAclassic connects productions with private owners of classic, vintage and period vehicles across the UK. Instead of a single prop house, you have access to hundreds of individually owned cars, vans, buses and motorcycles from the 1920s to the 1990s, each photographed and described by its owner and usually available with the owner as driver or handler on set. Feature films, television drama, commercials, music videos, stills shoots and student productions all use the platform.
What is available as picture cars
- Pre-war and 1930s saloons, tourers and vintage Rolls-Royce and Bentley
- 1940s and 1950s British saloons: Austin, Morris, Rover, Jaguar, Ford and Wolseley
- 1950s and 1960s American cars: Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick and Ford
- 1960s to 1980s period cars: Minis, Cortinas, Capris, Escorts, Jaguars, Mercedes-Benz and BMW
- Period vans, taxis, buses, police cars, military vehicles and motorcycles
How film and TV hire works
Search by era, make or location and send the owner a request with the shoot dates, location, call times and what the vehicle needs to do. Owners will tell you whether the car can be driven on camera, static only, or driven by a stunt or unit driver, and what the daily rate covers. Most owners attend with the vehicle and many have set experience; several can supply period-correct number plates and details. Booking and payment are handled through BookAclassic, with the owner setting the rate.
Photoshoots and advertising
Editorial and advertising shoots use the same listings: choose the car, agree the location and the hours with the owner, and they bring the car prepared and stay with it throughout. Owners are used to early calls, long days and the car being dressed or lit.
Register your car for film and TV work
If you own a classic, vintage or unusual vehicle and would like it to earn its keep, list it on BookAclassic. You set the daily rate, say whether the car is available static, driven by you or driven by a unit driver, and where you are prepared to travel. You decide which bookings to accept, and productions contact you directly through the platform.
Coverage
Owners are listed throughout the UK, with the greatest concentration around London and the studios of Hertfordshire, Surrey and Berkshire, plus Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol, Cardiff and Glasgow. Search from the location of the shoot to see the nearest vehicles, and bear in mind that most owners will travel for a production.
How to book
Send the owner a request with dates, location and the vehicle's role. The owner replies with availability, a rate and any conditions, and you confirm securely through BookAclassic.
