1992 Mazda RX-7 FD 3S

1992 Mazda RX-7 FD (3S) coupe in Mazda Sunburst Yellow — a purpose-built FD with a single-turbo setup putting out roughly 300 kW and 420 Nm at about 1.2 bar. I bought this as a rolling chassis from Port Elizabeth and spent about three years building it. The car was repainted from red back to Sunburst Yellow, engine and gearbox were sourced and installed, and a single turbo was added to reach the power figures above. It’s a driver: the gearbox is tight, the engine responds well to boost, and it’s been tuned to be usable on the street while still lively on twisty roads. What makes this one turn heads is the color and the build story — I completed most of it during COVID, so it’s my dream car and I enjoy taking it to shows.
