The Jaguar XJS was a grand tourer built between 1975-1996, replacing the legendary E-Type. The last generation, of which this is an example, is the most developed and most reliable of these future classics. This is one of just 56 manual-transmission convertibles sent to the U.S. in ’94. Only about 2% of the XJS sold in the U.S in ’93 and ’94 came so-equipped. Other than some early V-12s in the 1970s, no other XJS’ were outfitted with manual transmissions. This is definitely the most engaging of the XJS line! This vehicle is not flawless. Remember that it's almost 30 years old so it's not as technically advanced, quiet or refined as current luxury cars. There will be minor squeaks, rattles and whines if you listen very closely but everything is normal. Mechanically, it is sound and reliable in all aspects. Everything works properly and A/C is cold. The power top works perfectly--unhook two handles and hold the button and the roof is down in 15 seconds! BRAND NEW soft top installed August 2023--see last picture. The seats are supple yet still supportive, the driver position is normal, and visibility is great. The interior trim is real wood. The trunk is a good size for a convertible and you can use the rear seats for added storage (although the rear seats themselves are seemingly designed only for legless children). The XJS’ combination of refinement, sportiness, panache, and practicality is superior to anything you’ll find, including my own Abarth Spider and Ferrari 348 Spider.
