Activities that are not allowed and the consequences for renters and owners.

Engaging in any Prohibited Use voids your insurance protection and is grounds for fees, suspension or cancellation of membership.

Prohibited vehicle uses include:

  • Permitting someone who is not an approved driver to drive the car.
  • Driving a manual transmission car without expertise in clutches and manual transmissions.
  • Towing or pushing anything; allowing the car to be towed except by an authorised service vehicle.
  • Driving off paved roads, off-roading or in any race, test or competition.
  • Carrying persons or property for hire (taxi, parcel delivery).
  • Driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Loading the car beyond its rated capacity or with more passengers than seat belts.
  • Smoking or fuelling with the wrong type of fuel.
  • Transporting flammable, toxic or illegal substances.

See What insurance is included? for how protection interacts with these rules.
