When a booking lets you pay a portion up front, and when the remaining balance is collected.
On some bookings you can pay part of the cost up front to secure the car, with the rest collected automatically closer to your trip. Where it's available, you'll see the option and the amounts at checkout before you confirm.
How it works
- You pay the first portion when you book, which confirms the reservation.
- The remaining balance is charged automatically to the same card before your trip, with no action needed from you.
- You'll be able to see what you've paid and what's still to come on your booking.
Keeping your payment on track
- Make sure the card on your booking stays valid so the balance can be taken.
- If a scheduled charge can't be taken, we'll let you know so you can update your payment method.
- If the payment can't be completed in time, the booking can eventually be cancelled, so it's worth sorting out a failed charge promptly.
A part payment to reserve the car is separate from any security deposit. See Security deposits. For the general timing of charges, see When am I charged for my booking?.
