How to request a change to a confirmed booking, how the other party responds, and what can't be changed once a trip starts.
Plans change. On BookAclassic you can ask to adjust a confirmed booking (its dates, pick-up and drop-off times, or where the car is handed over) without cancelling and rebooking.
How a change works
- Open the booking and propose the change you'd like.
- The other party (the host or the renter) reviews it and can accept, decline, or suggest a different option in return.
- Once both sides agree, the booking updates and any difference in price is settled through the platform.
Because a change is a shared agreement, nothing updates until the other party accepts. Keep the conversation and any new terms inside the booking so they're on record.
How a price difference is settled
- If the change makes the trip cheaper, the difference is refunded automatically to your original payment method once the change is accepted.
- If the change makes the trip more expensive, the extra amount is charged to your card. Your bank may ask you to confirm the payment (card authentication), and there's a window to complete it. If the payment isn't completed in time, the change lapses and the booking keeps its original terms.
What you can't change once a trip starts
- The start date and pick-up details are locked once the trip is under way.
- A change can't be made right as the trip is ending, to avoid clashing with automatic trip completion.
- A trip can't be shortened to a time that has already passed.
If you need to keep the car longer, see Extending your rental. If you and the other party can't agree on a change, contact support@bookaclassic.com.
