Sending a request, Instant Book and what happens once the owner accepts.
Search by location, dates and rental type, then either send a booking request or confirm right away on Instant Book listings. The owner reviews a request and accepts or declines it.
Some self-drive listings have a minimum hire duration set by the host. If your dates are shorter than that minimum, you'll be asked to choose a longer period before you can request or book.
Have a question first? Message the host
On any listing page, tap Message host to open a direct conversation with the owner. No booking is needed. It's a great way to ask about the car, the pickup location, or anything else before you commit. The conversation is in-app and on record, so everything discussed is there if you do go on to book.
What happens after I send a request?
The owner has up to 48 hours to respond. A request places a hold on your card but doesn't charge it; if the owner accepts, the payment is captured and you'll see the booking under Trips with the owner's contact details and pickup instructions. If the request is declined or expires, the hold is released. You can also withdraw your request at any time before the owner responds. Open the booking from your Trips overview to cancel it.
What changed: owners now have up to 48 hours to respond to a request (the old platform quoted 24 hours).
