Do I need to verify my driving licence?

For US self-drive rentals, the selected driver can start or resume their private Didit identity and licence check after successful checkout, even while a request is waiting for the host. Didit is a separate driver action; it does not hold up host acceptance, required payment or reservation confirmation.

A request is confirmed when the host accepts and required payment succeeds; an Instant Book is confirmed when required payment succeeds. Only after confirmation, and when the selected driver's licence details are usable, does the booking-specific Samba driving-record check run. If more information is needed, the selected driver is prompted to complete Didit after checkout.

What you do need is to meet our standard renter eligibility: being old enough for the car, holding a valid driving licence, and having a suitable payment method. See Renter eligibility requirements.

How your licence is checked

For US self-drive, Didit collects the selected driver's identity and licence details; Samba separately checks driving-record information for a confirmed booking when those licence details are usable. The renter can follow an invited driver's progress, but only that driver can open their private Didit session. Only a driver approved for this booking may collect and drive the car. For chauffeured and event hire, the host confirms the driver’s physical licence at handover. Bring the licence that matches your booking, plus an International Driving Permit if required. Any online licence or identity step for US self-drive is completed by the selected driver through BookAclassic. Didit and the booking-specific Samba driving-record check are separate steps; Samba starts only after confirmation when usable licence details are available. A renter cannot complete an invited driver's private verification session.
